Tape to CD Transfer FAQ Q - Where do I send my tapes? A - Simply send your tapes and cheques to Essential AV Services Ltd, 175 Northfield Avenue, Ealing, London, W13 9QT. Make sure you include all relevant instructions and return delivery details. Q - How do you recommend we send tapes to you? A - We recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery or Recorded Delivery. To date, we have never had a tape go missing, either on route to us or from us. Q - Will you return my original tape? A - Yes we will. Q - What sort of quality can I expect from the finished CD? A - You will receive CD quality audio CD’s where we have improved the quality of the original recording by reducing noise and increasing the overall level. At a minimum, the quality will be equal to the quality of the tape recording you sent to us. Q - Where will my CD play? A - Your CD will play in most CD players including Car stereos. Q - Do you use an unmonitored automated USB recording system? A - No. We like to use the human touch. Every transfer is overseen by an experienced sound engineer. Q - What does your work process involve? A - We use a digital recording studio environment where we constantly monitor the transfers. Our work process involves sending the audio into a digital mixing console. The audio is then recorded into our computer sequencing package where it is edited by a qualified sound engineer. Any enhancements that are needed are done at this stage. Finally, we export the project to our CD burning software where we separate the recordings into individual tracks if necessary and burn your CD. Q - How long does the process take? A - There is no short cut to transferring tapes. They have to be transferred in ‘Real time’ so for example, a C60 tape will take 1 hour to transfer plus approx 30 minutes to edit and burn. Tapes that need additional editing and enhancement will take longer. Q - When should I expect to receive my finished CD’s? A - We normally return the finished CD’s to you within 10 days of receiving them. We do however, sometimes get extremely busy which can affect how quickly we can complete your work. Tapes are transferred in the order that we receive them, but we appreciate that sometimes your CD’s may be needed for certain dates, for a birthday for example.
