The PS-10 is a professional recording strip designed for one step processing of vocal or solo instruments direct to the recording device. In these applications it is important to maintain the utmost signal integrity by keeping the signal off the mix bus and limiting the number of separate processors in the signal path. The PS-10 brings all the important recording processors into one unit; high quality mic preamplifier with Line and DI inputs, Expander Noise reduction, variable frequency De-esser, Compressor and Equalisation.
The input section is designed around an ultra low noise mic pre-amp of exceptional clarity with switching for Line or DI input selection, +48V Phantom Power, Phase Reverse and 75Hz High Pass Filter. The Noise Reduction is implemented by way of a simple downwards Expander with variable Threshold. A De-Esser section features variable Threshold and frequency range selection. The Compressor section includes variable Threshold and Ratio with variable window Auto-Sensing Attack and Release, which, while providing general control over Attack and Release, automatically tailors the timings to suit the signal. Ensuring first class results.
The EQ section features two fully variable parametric mid frequencies with variable bandwidth (Q) and fixed HF and LF cut/boost. Twenty segment LED bargraphs provide Gain Reduction metering and switch selectable Input/Output metering with selectable Peak or VU Response.
For applications requiring direct connection to a digital recorder, the PS-10 may be fitted with a high quality 24Bit A to D converter module, supporting 44.1 and 48kHz sample rates in AES/EBU or S/PDIF formats. Output connections are XLR for AES/EBU and between Coax and Optical (TOSLINK) for S/PDIF. The unit may be externally synchronised with Word-Clock. This option also features switch selectable Dither to improve quality when connected to devices of less than 24 bit.
